The coronavirus pandemic has had an unprecedented effect on the lives of everyone. However, its impact has been especially severe in the LGBTIQ community. Reduced services at LGBTIQ community centers and the closure of queer bars have left the community feeling invisible.
Which is why we had to come up with a way on how queer visibility can continue in creative ways in times of corona.
STAY VISIBLE, STAY SAFE!
HOW TO DO FENSTERL PARADE
Make a statement! The Personal is Political: Put a flag next to your window, go wild on your balcony! Ask your friends and neighbours to do the same and join the party.
Our sound bikes will be accompanied by a small group of cyclists, who will pay attention to the Covid19 safety regulations. Furthermore they will follow the Viennese traffic regulations (StVO).
5 SOUND BIKES
There are 5 tracks for you on which you can cheer on our Sound Bikes. Give them a warm welcome to your hood or join them for a short ride.
Print out your flags yourself and cut off the white border. Voilà!
A SPECIAL KIND OF PRIDE FLAG
A special parade aks for a special flag. The past few weeks have taken quite the toll on all of us. Things have been put into perspective and some lines have become somewhat blurry. The overlapping horizontal stripes represent these tough times. And obviously there needs to be a window on it. Visibility matters!
auf den Fahnen nicht fehlen.
The impact of the virus is widespread, affecting everyone not only financially but also psychologically. It has been quite the challenge to stay positive in times of isolation. However, we also know that community is the antidote to isolation. So here we are! Taking back community space and visibility!
